Job Description
Position: Marina Manager/Office Administrator
Closes: 5:00pm, August 18, 2006
Description: This position is responsible for all aspects of marina management for a small marina and cruise ship landing dock. It also entails general administrative support and oversight of special functions for the Port. As a member of a small team, the position requires a high degree of cooperation with other members of the staff and the ability to work independently.
Education: High School or GED preferred. Other education related to marina management and office skills are desired. Excellent computer skills are necessary. Background in public sector administration desired.
Compensation: Wage range for this position is dependant on prior experience. Medical, dental, vacation, and other benefits provided depending on hours worked.
Term: Position is part-time to full-time depending on available funding. Occasional weekends and evenings required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Marina Manager
• act as liaison between the Port Administration and Marina tenants
• handle all aspects of boat and boathouse moorage including scheduling, leases and payment collection
• coordinate other events at the marina, i.e. bass tournaments
• oversee maintenance at the marina and launch ramp
Office Administrator
• open and maintain the office in a presentable fashion for guests and clients
• provide receptionist duties for both the phone and door
• assemble and distribute Port Commission meeting packets
• attend monthly Port Commission meeting (2nd Wednesday 7:30pm - 9:30pm), take notes and prepare meeting minutes
• maintain records of the Port including files, minutes and correspondence
• draft general correspondence for the Port
• receive and distribute mail for the Port
• provide support services for all Port staff
• develop a marketing and advertising program for the Port
• update the Port’s website on a regular basis
Other Responsibilities:
Working at the direction of the Executive Director, the individual will:
• coordinate with other local and regional economic development agencies
• organize and arrange special events/activities for Port
• carry out other tasks as requested
Required Skills:
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Must be able to work in a team environment.
Computers: Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and PageMaker. Must be comfortable and have a basic knowledge of the internet and updating webpages. Competent in producing professional documents for communication and distribution.
Marketing: A general understanding of the marketing process is required. A basic understanding of economic development would be helpful.
Finance: A general understanding of financing and bookkeeping. Money handling is required for this position.
Other: Good interpersonal and office equipment skills are necessary. Supervisory experience is an asset.
