Port Lands Manufacturer
Homeshield, a division of Quanex (NYSE: NX) will be moving their facility to The Dalles.
Currently located in Hood River, Homeshield's business has grown more rapidly than initially planned, and six months ago they began to look for a site to expand to.
Considering locations in both Oregon and Washington, Scott Hege and Andrea Klaas of the Port of The Dalles were able to work local and state agencies to help entice the company to stay in Oregon. These included a $50,000 grant from Mt. Hood Economic Alliance, $90,000 from the Governor's Strategic Reserve Fund and Enterprise Zone tax incentives. But these were a drop in the bucket compared to the training opportunites offered by the Columbia Gorge Community College which is already offering training for some employees.
Having an annual payroll of approximately $500,000, Scott Bennett, General Manager of Homeshield said they anticipate growing to 50 employees in the first year of operations.
The new facility will be built by Design Structures LLC and will initially be 65,000sf, with expansion possibilities of up to 120,000sf.
