2006 and will be an exciting year for the Port of The Dalles as we look ahead to the future of the Port District and the region.

2005 saw many changes, the 2 biggest being the final payment being made on the $4.5million General Obligation Bond, passed 20 years ago, and the sale of the final parcel of land that Port had developed in that 20 year period.  Just 5 years ago when we looked forward we estimated that we had a 100 year supply of industrial land, based on past sales, but that estimate quickly changed.

Working with the City of The Dalles on the Urban Growth Boundary expansion is just one direction that the Port is heading in at this time. With over 720 square miles of Wasco County included in the Port's District, the Port is also talking with other communities in the District to find out what their needs are, and how the Port may be able to assist.
