PORT OF THE DALLES OFFERS TRADE SHOW MARKETING GRANTS
THE DALLES, Ore. — A new grant program through the Port of The Dalles is offering local businesses up to $2,000 to help expand their markets through trade show attendance and related activities.
A $20,000 grant pool has been established, funded half by the Oregon Investment Board and half by the Port. Businesses in Wasco County located within either the Port district boundaries, or the boundaries of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area are eligible. The Port district boundaries extend through most of Northern Wasco County south to the top of Tygh Ridge, including the cities of The Dalles and Dufur. The Scenic Area boundaries in Wasco County include most land visible from the Columbia River.
“The grants cover a portion of the expenses involved in attending trade shows, trade missions and trade workshops,” said Kathy Ursprung, who administers the program for the Port. “The idea is to help existing businesses expand their markets through the connections they make at these events.”
Businesses can apply for grants to reimburse up to 50 percent of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of $2,000. Eligible expenses include booth space, trade show registration, related marketing materials, and freight costs for exhibit equipment and materials. Interpreter or translation fees for marketing materials, websites or e-commerce are also eligible.
Lodging, meals and transportation costs are not eligible for reimbursement, but may be used as matching expenses to help qualify. Businesses may also match grants with other funding sources such as Export Promotion Grants through Business Oregon.
